This is Portcothan Bay...
...turning right onto the South West Coast Path, heading back to Harlyn.
The cliffs were ablaze with gorse
And the sea was that wonderful turquoise colour.
The walk is peppered with rocky bays and inlets
For Easter, the weather was very warm. About 20 degrees, I estimate.
Parts of the path have fallen in, and the route has been taken back behind fences at times
Walking towards Constantine Bay, hot spot for surfers.
Views over to Trevose Head
A rare picture of me, rather disloyally (given that I was by Padstow) wearing a tee-shirt with St Ives on it!
Families enoying themselves - cricket, dog-walking and rock-pooling.
This was the coffee van. Very nice coffee (and cake - sticky ginger was the best).
This is Booby's Bay, another sandy and rocky beach
Achingly beautiful, but we had to cut it short owing to a collapse of boots! (Eight years old, so hardly surprising.)
We took a short cut back to Harlyn: that's the view towards Trevone, over the fields
For gentle walking, with fabulous views, this walk is difficult to beat.
Today's walk: Bus from Harlyn By to Porthcothan (£3.50) and then walk back along the South West Coast Path to Harlyn Bay. Should have been 6.5 miles, but our short cut across the headland made it 4.5. Easy walking, with one small climb up to Trevose Head. At some point in your life, you should do this walk!
Bus timetables as yesterday - bus roughly every hour, or every two on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Click here for details
