Kinver walks - final bit of the snowy walk . Canal, Stewponey, Stourton woods

Leaving Dunsley tunnel behind, I carried on along the canal. This is looking over towards the Bridgnorth Road

What a day to be tree cutting

Reaching the original Stewponey bridge (right next to the modern one, carrying the busy road traffic)

The route under the old bridge is almost a tunnel!

The British Waterways base at Stewponey Lock

Walking up the hill, the New Kinver Players advertise their latest play

Turning left onto the path oppsite Stourton Castle gates. We always called this the pig field, though it hasn't had any pigs in it for over 20 years! The farmer always keeps the path in good condition though.

The stile at the far end of the field

25 years ago this was an open field. Now the trees look quite mature

Turning right up the path which runs alongside Chance Wood

Signs of more snowdrops to come
The route: from Greensforge Lane, along the path, through Chance Wood to the Hyde, then along the canal to the Stewponey, turning left onto the path opposite the Stourton Castle entrance, and back up through the woods again. About 2.9 miles
