Kinver Edge walk. More rock houses

Leaving Nanny's Rock behind, I continued below Kinver Edge, peering through the trees to try to find Vales Rock. There it is. (You see my problem)

This is what gives it away - an old window

But it's well worth looking for

Quite extensive, with two storeys.

Gradually getting overgrown.

It's in a dangerous condition, and there are barriers in front.

The old well. Picture a bit blurred, sorry.

Next to Vales Rock is this - Kingsford Forest Park Heathland. If you can't find Vale's Rock, just climb the hill here, and you'll see it through the trees!

I returned along the top of the Edge, remembering the days we used to ride right up to Vales Rock: it wasn't overgrown at all then.

The junction of paths on the Edge. Staffordshire Way and North Worcestershire Path.

The views from the Edge are great in all weathers

The view from the top of Nanny's Rock. (See yesterday's post for the houses below)

From Nanny's Rock to the Sheepwalks - it's a long way down!
Looking the other way, to the Clent Hills

The gorse has suddenly begun to flower

The return is past EdgeView Hostel, and into Kinver.
Today's Walk: Although this is based on an old Kinver Tram walk leaflet, the actual route is unclear. Just walk along the bottom of Kinver Edge, passing Nanny's Rock and Vales Rock, ascend the Edge, and return along the top. The pamphlet extracts are below, but the paths on the ground aren't much like the map, so you need either local knowledge or a great sense of optimism. I walked just over 5 miles with 922 feet of climb, so it's fairly tough! But where else will you find such fantastic dwellings?
