Here's the rest of the lovely easy walk showing bits of Kinver you may never have seen before.
2.5 miles and very rewarding.
The path takes you up behind some remote houses, so you can look down onto the canal
One of the remote houses is for sale. I couldn't see any vehicle access, and I guess there's no mains drainage, but you do have canal frontage to moor a boat, and a garden shed/cave cut into the sandstone.
Yew Tree House again
Lovely Autumn colours
After a while, the path goes through this field...
...and out onto this lane.
...where you cross this bridge (Whittington Horse Bridge) and return to Kinver along the canal towpath.
A closeup of the beautiful old brickwork.
The River Stour (on the left) runs alongside the canal.
It was a cold day.
The far side banks are really quite high
And back to Kinver...
...where visitors are making use of the moorings
The bridge has a separate tunnel for the boaters' horse
Kinver Lock - next to the Vine
Walk details: Park in the Acre car park and walk away from the Buttercross, and towards the Co-op, following the road past the Vine public house. Just past the canal bridge, turn right onto Gibraltar. The path goes behind some isolated houses, and climbs: there are fabulous views towards the church and the Edge, as well as down to the canal. The path is easily followed. When you reach Whittington Horse bridge, cross it and take the canal towpath back to the Vine and Kinver lock. Back along the road to your car. Possibly stopping at Olga Dunn's teashop, Dunsley tearooms (both on the High Street) or the one in Chenevare Mews, just off the High Street.
