Kinver - one hour walk you should try-

This quick walk shows bits of Kinver you might not know. It's easy to follow and there's lots to see
Starting in the High Street

Kinver has some lovely old buildings

I think the the double doors here might once have been a passage for horse and carriage to get to the back of the house.

Kinver is built largely on sandstone. (Hence the Rock Houses on the Edge). There was a bit of a cliff fall/collapse here earlier in the year

Kinver pumping station. There are lots of these all along the Stour valley. They could do with updating the sign though!

The Vine pub. Popular with boaters and the general public.

Just after the canal bridge, turn down this narrow road, Gibraltar

I was amazed to find a traffic jam here.

The tractor backed up, giving a view of the Staffs and Worcs canal

Gibraltar has some very isolated houses on it. The cables carry their electricity

New houses on the other side of the canal, and Kinver church high above the village

The path climbs quite high, and there's a view back to the recently created park. It used to be almost marshland

More of this walk tomorrow.
It's about 2.5 miles long and can easily be done in an hour. Why not give it a go? You burn about 240 calories, so it has to be worth it.

Walk details: Park in the Acre car park and walk away from the Buttercross, and towards the Co-op, following the road past the Vine public house. Just past the canal bridge, turn right onto Gibraltar. The path goes behind some isolated houses, and climbs: there are fabulous views towards the church and the Edge, as well as down to the canal. The path is easily followed. When you reach Whittington Horse bridge, cross it and take the canal towpath back to the Vine and Kinver lock. Back along the road to your car. Possibly stopping at Olga Dunn's teashop, Dunsley tearooms (both on the High Street) or the one in Chenevare Mews, just off the High Street.
