Arriving at the cathedral, I admired the West door with its Norman round arch
and the tall towersThere are some really beautiful carvings of the Stations of the Cross. This is the 10th station, where Jesus is stripped of his clothes
... and this is the 11th station, the nails piercing the hands
Outside, the cloisters
...with a leaded rainwater butt
The rose window from the outside. You can book a rooftop tour in which you walk across the bottom of the rose window, from the inside. It is stunning, but there were no tours on the day we visited. They are really worth doing though. I did it 30 years ago and can still remember many of the details!!!
The large font (somewhat ugly, I thought)
On the way out, we saw this - originally a Norman house
Steep Hill is well-named. We treated ourselves to a mince pie in Bonboucherie, a teashop.
The cobbled street falls steeply below
This is the oldest house in Lincoln - dating back to 1158, similar to the other Norman House seen earlier
Heading back on the River Witham we were surprised to see rowers out in force. It was a chilly 2 degrees, according to my car's thermometer
This was a pleasant walk of about 7 miles in total, but we barely noticed it because it was so varied, and Lincoln is so interesting. There was lots we didn't see - and I will be back one day to do a cathedral rooftop tour.
