Lincoln - walking round the city

Along the River Witham, we passed the Green Dragon pub with its unusual sign...

...and the new shopping centre just ahead.

There was an outdoor ice rink
Whoops!
She got straight up afterwards

More boats, right by the main shops

We liked this overhead sculpture -it's called the Empowerment Sculpture, and dates from 2002. It's supposed to represent Lincoln's industrial engineering past.

A festive street musician
New shops alongside the old buildings

The Tourist information Centre is in a jettied building (jettying - the floors which jut out)

The Castle

With its hilltop setting, it must have been very secure. It was started in 1086, and is to be closed for refurbishment apparently.
Our main objective: the Cathedral.
Of which, more tomorrow
