Witley Court

Not so much a narrative of a walk as a reminder of the beautiful place that is Witley Court, in Worcestershire.
I was there last week with a party of school children

The golden dome on the right is Witley Church - an amazing place decorated inside in Baroque style

Some of the gardens are now being restored

From here, it barely looks like a ruin - but from inside you can see the fire damage, and also the way that afterwards parts of it were sold off as salvage.

Some of the staff I went with

View from inside: those are two visitors sitting in the doorway - I didn't like to ask them to move!

The Fountains play every hour from 11.00am. The central spout reaches about 100 feet.
I've seen it lots of times, but every time is spectacular

Walking back with the children towards Shrawley Woods. A house near here has an old-fashioned lamp-post in the garden. We call it the Narnia lamp-post. (I wonder if they know?)
